My 'Twenty-Thirteen' Words

You will notice that the header of my blog has been updated. The words I have chosen are to remind me daily of what I want to achieve this year.

Authentic |
"not false or copied; genuine; real"

I think we all have times where we are not true to ourselves -  We don't say what we are thinking. We withhold our true opinions. We try to keep up with the Jones'. We live a life to please somebody else.

This year my intention is to be more "me". Imperfect me. Those imperfections shape who I am and I shouldn't have to hide them or make excuses for them. I also want to be "real" with what I want for and in my life. What how much clutter, chaos, & changed can I really handle? What do I need to be doing and working towards?

Now |
This is an easy one to explain.
  • "Just do it, now"
  • "There's no time like the present"
  • "Be spontenous"
  • "Enjoy this moment"
Practice |
Everything we do in life takes practice. Some of it's intentional and some of it is not. We only get better if we practice - that's what we tell our children.  Malcolm Gladwell states in his book "Outliers" that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to be a master at your talent. If you worked 40hrs a week on your craft every year, you would achieve this in 4yrs and 8 months. You have to practice. You have to try. You have to mentally get to that idea of where you want to be and go for it. The more you practice, the more natural it will become.

Look out twenty-thirteen, here I come. . .
